An overview of our teams from the various programs

We specifically connect our teams with committed partners from business and science – become a funding partner of AXEL too.

The Borderstep Institute’s Green Startup Report 2026 shows that many startups address topics such as renewable energies, storage technologies, sector coupling, digitization of the energy industry, and industrial efficiency. The capital requirements are above average, as hardware-related and infrastructure-based business models require longer development cycles and larger investments. Green startups are also particularly dependent on cooperation with established companies, for example for pilot projects, market access, or industrial scaling. Cooperation with small and medium-sized enterprises and industry is considered a key success factor.

This is exactly where AXEL comes in: with a robust network of business, science, and politics, and a clear focus on the energy industry. In addition to technical excellence, successful green startups need above all a strong ecosystem. With its clear industry focus, individual support from experienced coaches, and direct access to the fokus.energie energy network, AXEL offers precisely the structural conditions that the report identifies as critical to success.

AXEL sees itself as a bridge between innovation and the market and as an accelerator for startups that not only want to accompany the energy transition, but also actively shape it.
